At United Communities Foundation Uganda (UCF), we are committed to ensuring the safety, dignity, and well-being of vulnerable individuals in rural communities. Recognizing the critical need for protection and secure living conditions, our Shelter & Protection program addresses the challenges faced by marginalized groups, including women, children, and orphans.
Our Approach
-
Advocating for Safe Living Environments:
- Promoting awareness of human rights to reduce abuse, violence, and neglect in families and communities.
- Empowering local leaders and communities to champion the rights of vulnerable individuals.
-
Providing Material Support:
- Distributing essential items like domestic utensils, clothing, and materials to those in urgent need.
-
Collaborating with Stakeholders:
- Working alongside government agencies, community leaders, and other organizations to enhance child protection and secure safe spaces for at-risk individuals.
Challenges
- Insufficient Resources: Limited infrastructure makes it challenging to offer adequate shelter to all those in need.
- High Demand: The growing number of homeless and at-risk individuals often exceeds our capacity to assist.
Our Vision
We envision a future where every individual, especially children and vulnerable groups, lives in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment. With additional support, UCF aims to:
- Establish permanent shelters for homeless families and children.
- Expand advocacy programs to protect against violence and exploitation.
- Provide immediate relief and support to individuals in emergencies.
